This video features several private well homeowners who are speaking up to ensure safe drinking water for all Massachusetts residents. These homeowners’ private well water had had levels of contaminants exceeding state health standards and/or suggesting potential health risks – and they explain why legislation is needed to provide protections for households who rely on these wells for drinking.

Dr. Woolf, who is also a distinguished member of the Coalition for Safe Drinking Water, provides a pediatrician’s perspective on private well protections and highlights the increased risks children face when consuming water from contaminated sources.

This private well homeowner in Lakeville discusses her experience participating in the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP)’s recent Private Well PFAS Sampling Program as well as RCAP Solutions’ Private Well Program to Protect Public Health.

Check out this testimonial from Jorge, a private well homeowner in Boxborough, who discovered high levels of E. coli in his water. These bacteria can cause gastrointestinal illness including severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting.

This neighborhood in Westminster had extreme amounts of sodium chloride in their private well water. From discolored and distasteful water coming from the tap, unpleasant showers, and stained clothes after washing, this contamination affected every part of these homeowner’s daily lives.
